What is conscious sedation?
Conscious sedation is a procedure used in dentistry to put anxious patients in a relaxed and calm state to allow them to undergo the dental treatments and procedures recommended by their dentist. The treatment utilises a sedative drug given by injection. Whilst it will make you drowsy and unaware of the treatment you are undergoing, you will remain lucid enough to communicate and co-operate with the dental team.
Dental sedation enables patients to associate visits to Mercer Dental Care with a feeling of tranquillity rather than dread. In the long term this means that crucial appointments are not missed due to phobias allowing even the most nervous of patients to overcome their fears and enjoy improved dental health.
