Andrew is the practice principle, acquiring the practice in March 2014. The practice has been the subject of refurbishment to modernise the premises. Andrew graduated from Glasgow University in 2006 and has been practicing in Scotland for 7 years within three different practices. Andrew enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, with a keen interest in restorative and cosmetic treatments. Andrew is committed to providing the best possible care to all of his patients. He is currently enrolled in postgraduate studies of restorative dentistry and is looking to complete to a masters level. Andrew is married with a young family. He is originally from Belfast and is looking to return to Northern Ireland to practice in the immediate future. In his spare time he enjoys socialising, playing hockey and spending time with his young family.
Janice qualified as a General Nurse in 1986 and subsequently worked as a Renal & Theatre Nurse before taking a 10 year break to raise her two sons. She returned to work in 2008 as a receptionist. Janice became a Practice Manager in 2011 and has attained qualifications in computerised and manual bookkeeping. She has also project managed a number of property developments as well as designing and co-ordinating the refurbishment of Mercer Dental Care. Janice has continued to keep up to date with training and development courses as well attending management and HR courses. She has also taken on the role as Marketing Manager, a role which she enjoys and plans to develop. Janice became the Registered Manager in 2014. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and socialising.
Judith trained at QUB and graduated in 2000. She has worked in a private cosmetic practice in Belfast for more than 13 years where she has obtained a broad experience in all aspects of dentistry. Judith has a particular interest in the field of aesthetic dentistry. She finds providing confidence building smile transformations extremely rewarding and she is passionate about providing the highest quality of treatment, aesthetics and standard of care for her patients. Judith has continued to extend the range of treatments she can provide and is certified in the use of Smile Tru clear aligners and Six Month Smiles short term cosmetic braces.
Rowena qualified as a dentist from Newcastle in 2011 and has worked with both Private and NHS patients. She has a particular interest in family dentistry and is currently awaiting training in adult orthodontic treatments. Rowena has excellent communication and organisational skills, which are necessary to deliver a high standard of patient care. She believes in pain-free, relaxed dentistry and takes care to ensure dentistry is a positive experience for all her patients. In her spare time Rowena is an active member of a running club and was elected onto it’s committee as development officer. She enjoys doing park runs with varying degrees of success and is a Run Director, organising Northern Ireland’s largest parkrun.
Justin is a Specialist in Endodontics. He offers a specialist endodontic service in Northern Ireland. Justin is committed to providing professional and quality endodontic care within a relaxed environment using an evidence based approach and contemporary techniques. Justin studied Anatomy and Dentistry at Queen's University Belfast, graduating with honours in both degrees. He completed specialist training in Endodontology at King's College London Dental Institute. Justin delivers endodontic educational courses for dentists. He has published several papers in peer reviewed journals and he has co-edited The Principles of Endodontics, second edition.
Joanne Mawhinney gained her dental degree from Trinity College Dublin in 2002, returning home to Northern Ireland to complete her vocational training year. This was followed by two years as a Senior House Officer in Oral Surgery in the Royal Victoria and Ulster Hospitals. She then worked as an associate in general dental practice before taking up a Staff Grade position in the Periodontal Department in the School of Dentistry. Joanne completed specialist training in Periodontics in Trinity College Dublin in 2012 and now works in private practice. During her career she has been involved in undergraduate teaching of dental students and dental hygiene students. She currently runs a peer review group for dental hygienists and lectures on Periodontics to dentists and dental hygienists.
Emma graduated from Queens University Belfast in 1999. She is has worked for 18 years providing general dentistry in Northern Ireland but also gaining experience in private practice in NSW, Australia. In 2010, Emma took her first plunge into the facial aesthetic world with training in botulinum toxin treatments. Impressed with the results that these treatments delivered Emma continued to train and develop her skills, adding a range of treatments to address various concerns. Emma has sought out and only offers treatments that are proven to have the best results and are clinically tested and trialled rigorously to have a proven safety profile. Your safety, comfort and satisfaction are her priority!
Mel has been practicing dental hygiene for 9 years. She trained as a Dental Hygienist in the Royal School of Dentistry and achieved a Diploma in Dental Hygiene from Queens University Belfast in 2005. Mel’s career has developed in private general dental practices. She has also completed training in Zoom Teeth Whitening which she carries out regularly on patients. Since 2008, Mel has worked in an orthodontic practice where duties include X-rays and impression taking.
Leanne started dental nursing in 1997 and gained her National Dental Nursing Qualification in 1999. Since then she has worked in both NHS and private practices before joining the team at 97 Brunswick Road in 2007. Her main role at Mercer Dental Care is that of receptionist. However she has recently started working in the surgery to assist the Specialist in Endodontics. Leanne also takes on the role of Patient Care Co-Ordinator, a position that she has embraced and which she thoroughly enjoys. Leanne continues to keep up to date with training and development courses. In her spare time she enjoys socialising and spending time with her family.
Hilda started dental nursing in 1980 and worked for four years before taking a career break to raise her four children. She returned to work in 2009 and gained her National Dental Nursing Qualification in 2010. Hilda has taken on the role as Lead Dental Nurse and also has a role on reception. She continues to keep up to date with training and development courses. Hilda enjoys spending time with her family and has many hobbies including arts & crafts.
Nicola started dental nursing in 2014 and gained her Dental Nursing Qualification in 2016. She joined the team at Mercer Dental Care after returning from maternity leave in 2017. Her main role is that of Dental Nurse. Nicola continues to keep up to date with training and recently started working in the surgery to assist the Specialist in Endodontics. She enjoys getting to know her patients and learning new skills. In her spare time Nicola enjoys spending time with her family.
Hayley gained a degree in Fine and Applied Art before becoming a dental nurse in 2012 and achieved her Dental Nursing Qualification in 2013. She has worked in both NHS and private practices and joined our team in 2017. Her main role is that of Dental Nurse. Hayley enjoys improving her skills and continues to keep up to date with her training and development. She is a keen baker, enjoys kickboxing and is a big movie fan.
